Bragging on God:
“Life is CRAZY, but God is good!”
“God spoke to me today…He is so faithful!”
“God showed up and guess what He did? Isn’t that awesome!?”
“Didn’t God do a beautiful job with the night sky? He is so amazing!”
“God will see me through, no matter what. He always has and always will!”
“ God, You sure take really good care of me!”
Denise, Jan and I went to the National Worship Leader conference in June. Each of us had a neat ‘take away,’ as Jan would say. I had more than one! In one of the breakout sessions, I was moved to tears as the speaker—a professor from my online school (Liberty University!)—had each of the attendees share what they think ‘praise’ is.
The consensus was praise is bragging on someone else. We praise our kids by bragging on them to our friends. We praise our favorite sports team or musicians by bragging on them to others. Of course, we praise our God by bragging on Him to everyone who will listen.
Worship incorporates praise by directing it back up to the receiver—our amazing God! When was the last time you bragged about God? If it’s been awhile, it’s not for lack of material—just check out the New Mexico sunsets and the cool, mountain breezes! It’s not for lack of work in our lives. I know if you look just a little further outside yourself, you will see His hand in EVERYTHING going on in your life. I SURE DO!!
So here’s a ‘take away’ for you: brag on our God Who deserves every ounce of praise we can possibly muster. Brag on our God to everyone you meet. Ultimately brag on Him right to His face as you lift up your voice to the heavens!
Soli Deo Gloria, Lynn
